1/2 lb. sliced bacon
1/2 lb. sage sausage
1/2 lb. ground beef
1 C. thinkly sliced onion
28 oz. pork and beans
17 oz. Lima beans drained
1 Can kidney beans drained
1/2 C. BBQ Sauce
1/2 C. Ketchup
1/2 C. sugar
1 C. packed brown sugar
2 Tbsp. Mustard
1/2 C.. Molasses
1 tsp. Salt
1/2 tsp. Chili powder
4 Tbsp. Cider Vinegar
In large skillet brown beef, sausage, and onion, then drain. Put in Large casserole dish and add all of the beans. Drain all but the pork and beans. Combine all other ingredients; stir into beef and bean mixture. Place Raw bacon on top of casserole and put in oven uncovered on 350 for 45min. to 1 hour. Will bake up thick. Note: I looked and looked for this recipe after mom passed away and I finally found it. This is by far the best baked beans you will ever taste. Enjoy!

This sounds delish. Both my fellas love beans. Very hearty. Will have to try it soon. Don't think I've seen sage sausage here so will have to substitute a different kind.

ACC, I know that Bob Evens makes the sage sausage, and so does Jimmy Dean. It comes in 1 pound roll size.
Wasting away again, at Margarita Grill.....

I have never heard of Sage sausage either...
I would assume a mild, smoked sausage would do?
...and life goes on...

Sage sausage is not like smoked sausage it is fresh ground pork only spicy, you could probably use the hot and spicy sausage accoring to your taste...
